Kozhikode: Tension erupted at Koyilandy Gurudeva College of Advanced Studies when the principal and a teacher of the college were beaten up by SFI activists on Monday. College Principal Dr Sunil Bhaskar and teacher K P Rameshan were admitted to a hospital after getting injured in the attack held at the college office, verandah and principal’s office.
Meanwhile, SFI members alleged that its area president Abhinav was manhandled by the principal and that his eardrum had been damaged in the incident.
A dispute over the helpdesk in front of the principal’s office setup by the SFI in connection with admission to the new four-year- graduation programme resulted in the incident. The complaint is that the principal disrupted their activity following which they assaulted and beat up the principal. The principal had directed them to sit in the verandah.
The Principal alleged that he was attacked without any provocation by some SFI workers outside the college.
Teacher Rameshan got injured when the SFI workers forcefully prevented the teachers and other students from taking the injured principal to the hospital.
Currenlty, the three injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at the KoyilandyTaluk Hospital.
