Midhun’s mother Suja, who had rushed home from Kuwait upon hearing the devastating news, arrived just in time to give her son a final kiss.

Kollam: Thevalakkara bid a heart-wrenching farewell to 13-year-old Midhun, whose life was tragically cut short by electrocution at school. Amid tears and prayers, family, friends, classmates and neighbours gathered to pay their last respects. It was his younger brother Sujin, who lit the funeral pyre—an act too heavy for one so young.
Midhun’s mother Suja, who had rushed home from Kuwait upon hearing the devastating news, arrived just in time to give her son a final kiss. The house was steeped in grief as she held her child for the last time—a boy who left home for school and never returned.
The tragedy unfolded when Midhun climbed onto the roof of a cycle shed at Thevalakkara Boys High School to retrieve his shoe and came into contact with a live wire. A bright, curious life ended in a flash, raising haunting questions of safety and responsibility.
His body, kept at the Sasthamcotta Taluk Hospital mortuary, was brought to the school premises on Saturday morning for public viewing. Later, it was taken home by noon. The funeral, held at 4 pm, became a sombre reflection of a life lost too soon, leaving behind a family shattered and a community in mourning.
