Kochi: The strike at the IOCL LPG bottling plant in Udayamperoor, Ernakulam, has been called off after successful discussions between the management and the striking workers. The strike, which began on Thursday morning, had caused major disruption in LPG cylinder supply to six districts in Kerala.
Loading workers had gone on strike in protest against salary cuts and the non-payment of wages.
As a result of the strike, the supply of LPG cylinders to the districts of Ernakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta was halted. The strike also led to the blocking of around 180 lorries that were waiting to be loaded with LPG cylinders.
Following talks between management representatives and the workers, the issues were resolved, and the workers have agreed to resume loading operations. Normal operations are expected to resume shortly.
