Thiruvananthapuram: The indefinite strike announced by 108 ambulance employees has been called off after a consensus was reached during discussions chaired by Labour Minister Bindu Krishna. The meeting concluded with an agreement to disburse a bonus of ₹4,500 to the workers.

Following three hours of extensive negotiations, a consensus was established between the management and the trade unions, confirming that the ₹4,500 bonus will be provided to 4,500 employees, according to Minister Bindu Krishna.

The Labour Minister convened the meeting following a complaint submitted to the Labour Commissioner. Representatives from the employee unions, contracting agency officials and trade union leaders participated in the discussion regarding the bonus issue.

Although the Labour Commissioner had previously held talks with the employees on September 9, those negotiations ended without a resolution. The Labour Commissioner subsequently submitted a report on the matter to the Labour Minister.

The 108 ambulance staff had warned that they would proceed with their strike action if a favourable outcome was not reached.
