Kochi police investigate sexual harassment case filed by a Taiwan woman during Kochi Biennale boat ride. Accused, Navi Mumbai man, still at large.

Kochi: Kochi police have registered a case and launched an investigation following a sexual harassment complaint filed by a Taiwanese woman who visited the Kochi Biennale. The incident reportedly occurred on January 18, 2026 near the Fort Kochi venue.
The victim alleged that Sumit Katara, a resident of Navi Mumbai whom she met at the Biennale, befriended her during the art festival. According to the complaint, during a subsequent boat ride, Sumit allegedly touched her with sexual intent and attempted to harass her. He also invited her for drinks, which she refused.
Following the incident, the woman emailed her complaint to the Kochi City Police Commissioner, who forwarded it to Fort Kochi Police for further investigation. Based on the complaint, Fort Kochi Police have formally registered a case and are actively searching for the accused, who has not yet been located.
