Alappuzha District Collector declares holiday on August 11 for educational institutions in Kuttanad taluk and schools hosting relief camps due to heavy rain and waterlogging.

Alappuzha (Kerala): Following persistent waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall over recent days, the Alappuzha District Administration has declared a holiday for select educational institutions across the district on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
According to an official order issued by District Collector and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) chairman Shaji V Nair, IAS, the holiday applies to all educational institutions in Kuttanad taluk, including professional colleges, anganwadis and tuition centres.
In addition, the holiday extends to all educational institutions across Alappuzha district that are currently functioning as relief camps for flood-affected residents.

Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Examinations: Previously scheduled examinations will proceed as planned without any changes.
The decision was taken to prioritise student safety based on inputs and reports received from the Kuttanad Tehsildar regarding ongoing waterlogging and relief operations in the region.
