Thiruvananthapuram: Travellers and the public in Kerala will soon be able to locate the nearest clean toilet with the help of a new mobile application, the KLOO App, developed by Frugal Scientific, a start-up.

Announcing the initiative on Facebook, Local Self-Government Minister MB Rajesh said the app, short for Kerala Loo, aims to ensure that anyone can find a hygienic restroom anywhere in the state.

The project brings together well-maintained toilets from hotels, restaurants, and other public or private institutions. By integrating these facilities, users can quickly access real-time location details, operating hours, and cleanliness ratings through the app.

“This is a very helpful initiative for travellers,” Rajesh wrote. “You no longer have to struggle to find a clean place when nature calls. The KLOO App will guide you to the nearest clean toilet anywhere in Kerala.”

The app, part of the 'Malinyamuktam Navakeralam' (Waste-Free New Kerala) project, was developed by Suchitwa Mission in collaboration with the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association. It also allows users to rate toilets and view additional information such as nearby eateries, signature dishes, and facilities offered by participating establishments, promoting both hygiene and local businesses.

The KLOO App will soon be available on Android and iOS platforms. Registration for hotels, restaurants, and other establishments with washroom facilities will begin later this month.
