Kochi Mayor V. K. Minimol launches free Kidsight app to help parents track children’s development and identify potential concerns early.

Prayatna Centre for Child Development has launched ‘Kidsight’, a free mobile application designed to help parents track their children’s growth and developmental milestones. Kochi Mayor Adv. V. K. Minimol officially launched the app during the centre’s World Occupational Therapy Day event, ‘OPPAM’, at Oberon Mall in Kochi on October 26, 2026.
The Kidsight app helps parents understand their children’s physical and cognitive development through age-appropriate screening. It also offers preliminary guidance, educational videos and informative resources to help parents recognise potential developmental concerns and understand when professional support may be needed.
Speaking at the launch, Mayor V. K. Minimol highlighted the importance of identifying developmental variations early. Dr. Joseph Sunny Kunnacherry, founder and director of Prayatna, said the app aims to improve parental awareness and help families recognise when professional evaluation or intervention may be necessary.
Prayatna clarified that Kidsight is intended for initial screening and developmental awareness, not medical diagnosis. Parents who have concerns about their children’s development should seek advice from qualified healthcare professionals. The app is available for free on Android and iOS platforms, according to the organisation.
The launch was part of ‘OPPAM’, which featured interactive, therapy-based stalls and engagement games for children and adults. The event was attended by Councillor Shibi Soman, Oberon Mall Centre Manager Monu Nair and Prayatna representatives. The activities also helped parents and caregivers understand how everyday routines can present challenges for some children.
