
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasised on January 16 that the state's industrial growth has been accelerated due to its improved infrastructure and investor-friendly environment. Speaking to representatives from IT companies ahead of the Invest Kerala Global Summit, he pointed out how the government’s focus on connectivity and development has paved the way for a thriving industrial sector.
The CM stressed that the Left government is prioritising connectivity as a key factor in attracting investment. He also said that the government is taking necessary steps to improve connectivity by providing better transport facilities. He highlighted the rapid development of airports in Kozhikode and Kannur, in collaboration with the central government, as part of these efforts.

The Chief Minister also announced that the Sabarimala Airport will soon become a reality, boosting travel and connectivity in the region. He mentioned ongoing projects like the development of airstrips and significant road improvements across the state.
In addition to road and air transport, the CM emphasised the importance of water transport systems in fostering industrial growth. He said that the development of projects such as the Kochi Water Metro and the Kovalam-Bekal National Waterway will create more industrial opportunities.
Plans to make Kerala more investor-friendly
The CM also shared the government's ongoing efforts to make Kerala even more attractive to investors. This includes leveraging the state’s assets in education, skills, and human resources. He said that plans are being formulated to attract professionals to Kerala while retaining the state’s best minds. "For this, more quality institutions should be established in Kerala," he sais, adding that establishing more quality institutions is key to these plans. The proposal to create three additional IT corridors was also mentioned as part of the strategy to enhance the state’s industrial landscape.
The CM proudly noted that Kerala is leading the country in the startup sector. He expressed optimism about the future, stating that the arrival of new industrial institutions signals more opportunities for growth.
Support for AI, further connectivity enhancements
In response to questions from IT company representatives, the CM confirmed that Kerala is ready to embrace new industrial opportunities in fields like artificial intelligence (AI). He also agreed with the representatives' request for more flights to improve connectivity with Europe, acknowledging the need for global connectivity to attract more investment.
Pinarayi Vijayan also reassured the representatives that the state government considers investors and industrial institutions vital to Kerala's development. He expressed the administration’s commitment to supporting businesses and addressing any challenges they might face. The Chief Minister said that they should be Kerala's ambassadors, urging them to promote the state’s investment-friendly environment.
