Kozhikode: Dr Sreelakshmi Vimal, a researcher from Chelannur, has been honoured with the Marie Curie Fellowship, a prestigious opportunity offered by the European Union. This esteemed fellowship is designed to support students interested in scientific research and training, and Dr Sreelakshmi has been awarded a post-doctoral fellowship worth Rs 2.5 crore.
Dr Sreelakshmi’s fellowship will support her research on dynamic light optimisation, a project that aims to integrate human behavioural science and building illumination using cutting-edge digital twin technology. The two-year research project will take place at Cardiff University in the UK.

Academic journey and achievements
Dr Sreelakshmi’s academic background includes a degree in Architecture from the National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode, followed by an integrated MS and PhD in Building Science from IIT Madras, which she completed in 2024. She is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Architecture and Planning at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
Dr Sreelakshmi is the daughter of Vimal Kumar, a retired BSNL employee, and Sheeja. She is married to Premjith, an engineer based in the UAE, and her brother is Vishnu.
