Kochi: Sharjah: A 30-year-old woman from Kerala was found dead in her apartment in Sharjah under suspected circumstances, officials said.

The deceased, identified as Athulya Shekhar, a native of Thevalakkara in Kollam district, was found unresponsive early Saturday morning at her residence near Roll Park in Sharjah.

She had been living in the UAE for the past year. Athulya was scheduled to start a new job at a store in Safari Mall on the day she was found dead. Her husband, Satheesh Shankar, works for a company in Dubai. The couple has a 10-year-old daughter, Aaradhika, who currently lives in Kerala with Athulya’s parents.

Meanwhile, Athulya’s family alleged that she was facing prolonged abuse from her husband, Satheesh. A video has surfaced online allegedly showing Athulya being physically assaulted, with visible bruises on her body.

According to media reports, Athulya’s family had filed a complaint against her husband. 

The incident came barely days after a Kerala woman, Vipanchika Maniyan, was found dead along with her 18-month-old daughter Vaibhavi at their apartment in Sharjah.
