Nemom: Rahul and Shilpa, former students and instructors at Agasthyam Kalari Centre in Nemom, Thiruvananthapuram, on Thursday joyously united in a unique wedding themed around 'Kalaripayattu'.

The groom, dressed as 'Anka Chekavan' with sword and shield, stood by the bride, who wore an attire resembling a heroine from 'Vadakkan Pattu' ballads from Kerala.

The duo, both natives of Naruvamoodu, got married on Thursday afternoon at the Kalari Centre. The bride, wearing the traditional Kalari attire, was escorted by fellow students carrying maces, swords, shields, and palm leaf umbrellas.

Following the marriage ceremony, in the presence of their master, Mahesh Gurukkal, they both wielded the sword and shield, showcasing their skills. Their mothers were also former Kalari students, their mutual desire paving the way for Rahul and Shilpa's union. Their paths crossed five years prior, and now they expressed joy at marrying where they grew up and studied.
