
Kasaragod: The price of ration sugar for beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) in the state has been raised. Previously priced at Rs 21 per kg, it has now been increased to Rs 27 per kg.
The commission for ration traders has also been doubled. The commission for distributing one kilogram of sugar has been raised from 50 paise to Rs 1.

This is the first price increase since August 2018, when the cost of ration sugar was raised from Rs 13.5 to Rs 21 per kg.
Supplyco had proposed a price of Rs 31 per kg to reduce the state's annual liability for ration sugar distribution. However, the Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Commissioner suggested a price of Rs 25 per kg. After considering both proposals, the government has decided to set the new price at Rs 27 per kg.
