Kannur: A woman pedestrian narrowly escaped on Thursday morning at Anjarakandy here, when the compound wall of a mosque collapsed onto the road.

Footage of the incident shows the woman running for her life. She crossed the road reflexively upon hearing the wall collapse. The absence of oncoming vehicles also contributed to her escape.

The footage also suggests that students leaving the mosque after the madrasa session were unharmed, as they moved away after hearing the noise.

Meanwhile, heavy rain continues in the Kannur district. An orange alert has been issued for Thursday and Friday. Due to the persistent rain, many areas have been waterlogged for days, causing traffic disruptions in several places. In the hilly regions, crops have suffered extensive damage.

Water flooded Periyath Road in the Kottaram region of Mattannur, completely submerging a car. It is learnt that the car was submerged because it was driven through the flooded road. Both the passengers of the car were rescued.
