Rain is expected to return to Kerala from Friday due to a cyclonic circulation, with IMD issuing a yellow alert for Pathanamthitta and Idukki.

Thiruvananthapuram: Rain is likely to return to Kerala after a brief dry spell, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rainfall in the state from Friday due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation near the equatorial region of the Bay of Bengal.
The IMD has warned of the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on Friday and has issued a yellow alert for these areas. Heavy rain is defined as rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period.
The evolving cyclonic system is expected to move closer to Sri Lanka by Friday, leading to changes in prevailing atmospheric conditions over Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the coming days. The department has forecast enhanced rainfall activity over southern Tamil Nadu as well.
The IMD also said Kerala is likely to receive increased rainfall, particularly across central and southern districts, from Friday onwards. Authorities have advised residents in rain-prone areas to remain alert and follow weather updates as conditions may change rapidly.
