Thiruvananthapuram: An investigation has been initiated regarding a typographical error on police medals distributed by the Chief Minister on the occasion of Kerala Piravi Day. The inquiry will be conducted by DIG Satish Bino, as directed by the DGP. The medals, which were presented on November 1 contained the error.

The medals were produced by Bhagavathi Agencies in Thiruvananthapuram. There are suspicions that medals previously set aside due to the error may have been distributed again. The order for these medals was placed on October 23, and they were handed out on October 29.

During the ceremony held at the SAP Ground in Thiruvananthapuram, the medals were awarded to 264 officials, with nearly half of the medals containing the typographical mistake. Instead of reading “Mukhyamanthriyude police medal" (Chief Minister's police medal),” the medals incorrectly stated “Mukhyamanthranudey Polas Medan”.

DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib presented each medal to the Chief Minister, and at that time, the error had gone unnoticed. It was only when the recipients inspected their medals that the mistake was found. Following this, the DGP instructed that the erroneous medals be retrieved. The firm contracted to produce the police medals has also been asked to correct the mistakes and provide the revised medals.
