Adoor: A 16-year-old boy in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district allegedly drove cars and motorcycles without a licence and posted videos of himself driving on social media. Following a police operation, a case was registered against his mother for allowing a minor to drive, while a car and a motorcycle were seized.

The case was registered against Regina Noushad (52) of Palamoottil in Ezhamkulam, whose name the car was registered under. Police also registered a case against Ravindran (65) from Kollam, in whose name the motorcycle was registered.

Ravindran told the police that he had sold the motorcycle some time ago.

Traffic Sub-Inspector G. Suresh Kumar had received information that Regina’s minor son had been driving around Adoor and Kodumon in a car for some time. The boy was reportedly seen driving through busy parts of Adoor town and posting videos of himself behind the wheel as reels on social media.

Following the tip-off, traffic police intensified checks in Adoor and nearby areas over two days.

On Tuesday afternoon, police spotted the car they were looking for in the Parakode–Ezhamkulam area and stopped it. However, the 16-year-old was not driving the car at the time. Several of his friends were inside, and the car was being driven by Basil, an 18-year-old from Nedumon who did not have a driving licence.

Soon after, the minor boy arrived at the spot on a motorcycle. Police took both Basil and the 16-year-old into custody.

Police suspect that the boy had been driving several vehicles in recent months and are trying to trace the other vehicles. The 16-year-old was later handed over to his parents.
