Thrissur: A large number of people visited Nattika MLA C C Mukundan's residence after reports emerged about the dilapidated condition of his house, the threat of property attachment, and the injuries he sustained after slipping and falling. The MLA told Mathrubhumi that hundreds had called to enquire after the news was published.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan called on Friday morning to enquire about the situation. Minister K Rajan also contacted the MLA and said he would try to visit in person the following day.

Mathrubhumi had earlier reported that the MLA’s house was facing attachment and that rainwater had entered the house, causing the MLA to slip and suffer injuries.

CPI district secretary K G Sivanandan personally visited the MLA and assured him that there was no need to panic regarding the property attachment and that necessary steps would be taken. He was accompanied by Nattika Mandalam secretary K M Kishorekumar and assistant secretary A K Anilkumar.

The MLA had not informed anyone about the poor condition of the house or the threat of attachment. No one was aware that he had injured his leg after slipping in rainwater inside his house on Wednesday night. Most of those who visited after hearing the news were party workers, local residents and political leaders.

CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam, former ministers K P Rajendran and K E Ismail and BKMU state organising secretary Govindan Pallikkappil also called the MLA to enquire about his health.

Though doctors had advised 15 days of complete rest, Mukundan jokingly said that the large number of visitors following the Mathrubhumi report had disrupted his rest.
