Necklace theft: Kerala man arrested after absconding for 36 years

Thiruvananthapuram: After 36 years on the run, Parassala police arrested Santhosh (57), a resident of Pappanamkode, who had been absconding since receiving bail in a necklace theft case.

In 1988, Santhosh was remanded in custody for stealing a 12-gram necklace from an employee of Udiyankulangara Stanley Hospital. After being granted bail, he disappeared and had been in hiding ever since. Despite multiple search attempts, Parassala police were unable to locate him over the years.

Parassala police revealed that Santhosh is a suspect in approximately fifty theft cases across various police stations.
