Kochi: A thief who snatched a woman’s neck chain on the morning of the Lok Sabha elections was caught on camera. While the locals said that he got into a train and escaped, the Elamakkara police, who have registered a case in the incident, deny this.
The incident took place at Jawan cross road near Raghavan Pillai park, Edapally at around 9:15 on Friday morning. The thief snatched the chain of the woman who was walking along the deserted road and ran away. The woman ran after him but he got away. However, his image is clearly recorded in the CCTV camera that was installed nearby.
The image shows the man wearing a black-Tshirt and shorts and running without any shoes. Locals said that there is a chance of him getting on a train and escaping as the Edappally railway station is nearby. It is also alleged that some people who saw the woman running behind the thief took no steps to apprehend him.
The Elamakkara police, who registered a case in the incident, denied that he boarded the train and escaped as they say that there was no train from Edappally at the time.
