Lizzy, a retired banker and novelist from Aranattukara, to make her political debut as CPM’s pick for Thrissur mayor.

Thrissur: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to field novelist Lizzy, a resident of Aranattukara, as its mayoral candidate for the upcoming Thrissur Corporation elections. The party has chosen her to contest from the Laloor division, which is reserved for women candidates this year.
According to party sources, senior CPM leaders held discussions with Lizzy regarding the proposal and received a favourable response. While the initial plan was to field her as an independent, the district leadership later decided that she would contest under the party’s symbol.
Lizzy, who retired as chief manager of CSB Bank, has no prior political experience and has never held a party position. However, she comes from a family with a strong CPM background. Her novel ‘Vilappurangal’ is notably set against the backdrop of a leftist family.
