Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 13,750 new Covid cases on Friday, informed health department in a press release. With 130 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 15,155. Test positivity rate was recorded at 10.55.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Kozhikode - 1782, Malappuram – 1763, Thrissur - 1558, Ernakulam - 1352, Kollam – 1296, Thiruvananthapuram - 1020, Palakkad - 966, Kottayam - 800, Alappuzha - 750, Kasaragod – 726, Kannur - 719, Pathanamthitta - 372, Wayanad - 345 and Idukki – 301.

A total of 1,30,390 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 2,50,60,933 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.

63 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 12,884 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 725 patients remains unidentified.

78 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 24 were from Kannur, 15 from Kasaragod, 9 from Thrissur, 5 from Palakkad, 4 each from Pathanamthitta and Kozhikode, 3 each from Kollam, Ernakulam and Malappuram, 2 each from Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha and Wayanad and 1 each from Kottayam and Idukki.

Meanwhile, 10,697 recoveries were also reported in the state.

The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 1012, Kollam - 993, Pathanamthitta - 303, Alappuzha - 632, Kottayam - 739, Idukki - 238, Ernakulam - 708, Thrissur - 1551, Palakkad - 858, Malappuram - 1054, Kozhikode - 761, Wayanad - 164, Kannur - 1072 and Kasaragod - 612.

With this, the number of active cases touched 1,21,944 in the state. 29,93,242 people recovered from the disease so far.

3,97,164 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,72,317 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 24,847 people are in hospitals. 2254 people were taken to hospitals on Friday.

There are 83 local bodies with TPR below 5; 384 local bodies with TPR between 5-10, 362 local bodies with TPR between 10-15 and 205 local bodies with TPR above 15.
