Maranalloor: In a curious case, a housewife, who has approached the Chief Minister after she was denied withdrawal of the money she had deposited money in the Kandala Service Cooperative Bank, where financial irregularities worth over Rs 100 crore were detected, for her daughter’s wedding, received a response directing her to contact an officer who had retired a year ago. A housewife, K S Sreelekha, from Kattakada in Thiruvananthapuram received the notification recently from the Chief Minister’s Office.

On October 5, Sreelekha handed over the complaint to the Chief Minister. The wedding was originally scheduled for 2023. She had submitted an application to the bank, along with the wedding invitation card. The family had deposited Rs 14 lakh, which they got from selling their property,  in the Kandala Bank. As they did not receive any response from the bank despite several visits, they were forced to postpone the wedding.

The complaint mentions that Sreelekha’s husband Vijayasekharan Nair had to undergo an emergency surgery, and both Sreelekha and her daughter visited the bank multiple times. They have now planned to hold the wedding in December, but Sreelekha stated in the complaint that without urgent intervention from the Chief Minister, the family might be forced to commit suicide due to their situation.

On Wednesday evening, Sreelekha received a message stating that her complaint had been received and that further actions were being initiated. The message also included the phone number of an officer to be contacted. However, when Sreelekha and her family contacted the number, they were informed that the officer had retired a year ago. It has since been confirmed through an inquiry that the officer mentioned in the message had indeed retired a year ago.
