The Cochin Devaswom Board temples must now facilitate online puja bookings and donations, as per the Kerala High Court order. The court also directed action against fake online platforms impersonating temples

Kochi: The High Court has ordered that all major temples under the Cochin Devaswom Board should provide facilities to book pujas and make donations online.
A Devaswom judicial bench including Justice Anil K Narendran, and Justice P V Balakrishnan suggested that the official website and Instagram account details of the temples should be prominently displayed in all the temples.
The Temple Advisory Committee should not be allowed to accept money through its website or Instagram account. The chief vigilance officer must ensure that none of the devotees are being exploited in the name of online puja bookings through fake websites and Instagram accounts. The order also directed that strong action should be taken against fake websites and Instagram accounts.
The order was issued on a petition filed by Thripunithura - native C Devidas and others who pointed out that there is a fake Instagram account in the name of Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple Thripunithura and action should be taken in this regard.
Action will be taken based on the report submitted by the Chief Vigilance Officer regarding the incident, after considering the stance of the temple's advisory committee.
