Kochi: The Kerala High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Kalamamndalam Satyabhama, the Mohiniyattam artiste who had made casteist remarks against dancer RLV Ramakrishnan. The High Court instead asked Satyabhama to approach the Thiruvananthapuram SC/ST Court with her bail application, since the case, pertaining to the incident, is being pursued there.
Satyabhama had made insensitive and outrageous comments against Ramakrishan, also the brother of late actor Kalabhavan Mani, in an interview given to a YouTube channel earlier this year. She faced severe backlash for the casteist remarks against the young dancer. Satyabhama was booked under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for her insensitive comments, cases under the provision are regarded as non-bailable offences.
