Thiruvananthapuram: Pushing for the upliftment of handloom clothes, Kerala Industry Minister P Rajeeve made several proposals in the Kerala Assembly. The minister said that handloom clothes will be made mandatory for government employees on all Wednesdays. Even ministers can take up this practice, he pointed out.
Another proposal is that government institutions while purchasing products should always ensure that a certain amount is spent on handloom items. In this regard, a mandate will be brought, informed the minister.
Backing this proposal, Speaker MB Rajesh said that handloom-based products will be prioritized for use in legislative assembly.
