The move follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2021 announcement declaring August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has issued a circular directing universities to observe August 14 as "Partition Horror Day," according to media reports.
Vice-chancellors have been asked to organise seminars and dramas highlighting the horrors of the partition of India and Pakistan.
The circular, accessed by Mathrubhumi, says, “The Universities can organise Seminars to commemorate this occasion. They can prepare dramas on this, which can be done by going to people and showing how terrible the partition was.”
The move follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2021 announcement declaring August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. Last year, the University Grants Commission (UGC) similarly advised universities to observe the day.
Vice-chancellors have been asked to submit their universities’ action plans related to the observance and encourage active participation from students and staff.
