Thiruvananthapuram: The authority has sounded an orange alert at Idukki dam due to the rise in water level. On Monday morning at 7, an orange alert has been declared as the water level touched 2396.86 feet. A red alert will be declared if the water level increases for one more inch. At present, the water level has crossed 2396.96 feet. 

Maximum power is being generated by operating all five generators. Thereby there is no emergency situation as the additional water flowing to the dam is being utilised for power generation, informed KSEB officials. 

The maximum reservoir capacity of Idukki dam is 2403 feet. Though rain has subsided in Idukki, the water level is still increasing in Idukki dam. 

Shutters of Kallar dam have been opened and an orange alert was sounded at Pamba dam. 

Shutters of Kakki dam were opened on Monday at 11 am as heavy rainfall continued in the catchment area. The present water level has crossed 983.5 metres while the maximum capacity of Kakki dam is 986.33 metres. 

Meanwhile, a high-level review meeting will be held under the Chief Minister in relation to the opening of dams in the state. 

IMD has withdrawn the warnings regarding rainfall for Monday and Tuesday. However, a yellow alert has been sounded for the districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Malappuram.
