
New Delhi: The foster father of Kathua gang-rape victim, has informed that the Muslim Youth League handed over Rs 5 lakh to his family. The victim’s father also revealed that he had given over Rs 1.5 lakh to Adv. Deepika Singh Rajawat who appeared for the hearing in the case twice.
Talking to Mathrubhumi, the foster father revealed that Youth League representatives had handed over Rs 5 lakh in 2018.
“They had given the amount as cheque and cash during a meeting in Delhi,” he informed.
The girl was gang-raped and killed when she was under the protection of foster father.
The girl’s father stated that Mubeen Faruqi is their present lawyer. He also expressed satisfaction over Faruqi’s proceedings in the case.
In the first phase of the case, Deepika Singh Rajawat was the lawyer of the family. But most of the times, she skipped the hearing. She appeared in the case only twice. Following this, the family approached another lawyer for continuing the case.
At the same time, the victim’s uncle revealed that Adv. Deepika demanded money from them. He added that the family had paid over Rs 1.5 lakh to her.
The family also disclosed that they were aware of the controversies over the fund collection for them in Kerala.
The family of the victim reached Delhi for filing a complaint with the Human Rights Commission over the freezing of bank account. Muslim League activists also accompanied them.
Yusuf Padanilam, former national committee member of Youth League, had raised the allegation of misappropriation of fund collected for Kathua-Unnao victims’ families. It was alleged that PK Firoz and national general secretary CK Subair of Youth League misused this fund.
