Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to enhance school education in line with the curriculum, the Department of General Education will develop its own 'AI Engine' under the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), announced Minister V. Sivan Kutty. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Little Kites State Camp.

The foundational concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have already been incorporated into the ICT textbook. Building on this, the development of a dedicated AI Engine is now underway. The Minister further highlighted that issues arising from the excessive use of digital devices among children, along with the need to combat fake news, are also being addressed in the textbooks.

The event was also attended by Kadakampally Surendran MLA, KITE CEO K. Anvar Sadath, and ISCIFOS Director Dr Sunil TT.

29,000 Robotics Kits Deployed in Schools

The Minister also announced the completion of the distribution of 29,000 robotics kits in schools under KITE's initiative. These kits, based on open hardware, include components such as Arduino Uno R3, LEDs, mini servo motors, LDR, light, IR sensor modules, breadboards, buzzer modules, push button switches, and resistors.

These kits will enable students to create prototypes of various electronics devices related to real-world applications, such as traffic signals, automatic streetlights, EVMs, and walking sticks for the visually impaired. This hands-on approach aims to foster practical learning and innovation among students.
