New Delhi: The Kerala – Karnataka borders closed by the latter following the lockdown will be reopened.

Karnataka had closed the Thalassery – Coorg State Highway 30. The decision was taken after Kerala Chief Minister wrote to the centre in this regard. With the closing of border, freight movement in Kerala was adversely affected.

Union Minister Sadananda Gowda had held talks with Kerala and Karnataka Chief Ministers and chief secretaries. Following this, Karnataka has decided to open three routes to Kerala.

Mangalapuram – Kasaragod, Mysuru – Mananthavadi via H D Kotta and Gundlupet – Sulthan Batheri via Muthanga will be opened for goods movement.

Meanwhile, the Virajpet – Koottupuzha route will not be opened as there exists huge protest against opening it. Many public representatives and MLAs have expressed their dissatisfaction on opening it.
