
Karnataka: Altaf, a mechanic from Karnataka, has emerged as the lucky winner of the Kerala Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery, securing the bumper prize of Rs 25 crore with ticket number TG 434222.
The draw was held at Gorky Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday at around 2:00 p.m.
Altaf, who has been purchasing lottery tickets for over 15 years, expressed his joy at finally hitting the jackpot. He intends to use the prize money to organise a grand wedding for his children. Last year, the Thiruvonam Bumper had four joint winners from Tirupur,Tamil Nadu.
The winning ticket was sold at SJ Lucky Centre in Panamaram, Sultan Bathery.
Finance Minister K N Balagopal participated in the draw, alongside MLA V K Prasanth and Abraham Renn, the Director of the Lottery Department.
Despite the win of Rs 25 crore, the winner will face tax deductions of approximately ₹12.11 crore, resulting in a net payout of around ₹12.88 crore after all taxes and charges are applied.
