
Thiruvananthapuram: The winners of the Kerala Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery were announced on Wednesday at Gorky Bhavan, with the ticket number TG 434222 winning the grand prize of ₹25 crore. This ticket was sold in Wayanad at SJ Lucky Centre, Panamaram.
However, it should be noted that deductions will apply to their prize money. First, a 10% commission will be deducted for lottery agents. In case of the first prize winner who won ₹ 25 crore the amount deducted will be ₹2.5 crore. Then, a 30% state tax will be applied, amounting to ₹6.75 crore.
After these deductions, the initial amount reduces to ₹15.75 crore. For winners with an income exceeding ₹5 crore, an additional 37% surcharge on the income tax will apply. In this case, that comes to ₹2.49 crore.
Furthermore, a 4% health and education cess on the total tax (₹9.24 crore) will add an extra ₹36,99,000.
In total, the winner of the ₹25 crore prize will see deductions of approximately ₹12.11 crore, leaving them with a final amount of around ₹12.88 crore after all taxes and charges.
