Kannur: Now, Police could help you if your vehicle catches fire on the road. In many cases, Police personnel struggle to contain the fire and have to rely on fire force units. 

To tackle this issue, Kannur police had devised a plan to install fire extinguishers in police vehicles to act swiftly in case of fire.

City police commissioner Ajith Kumar launched the project on Thursday by installing fire-extinguishing kits in the traffic police vehicles. 

The extinguishers have been installed in 10 vehicles in the district. Assistant Commissioner T.K. Ratnakumar came up with this idea after the tragic death of a pregnant woman and her husband in a car fire last year.
