
Kannur: A man named Narayanan has set up a ‘knowledge worship centre’ in Cherupuzha in Kannur. The centre was established in October 2021. Discussions on books and film screenings have been happening in the area since the last 30 years.
A deity in the form of a book has been placed on a raised platform at the centre. The deity conveys the message that knowledge is the supreme god. It also stresses on the importance of being humble and having a broad outlook. To reach the deity, the visitors will have to first cross an entrance building, which has a collection of over 5,000 books. A statue of Buddha is also placed close to the deity.
The unique knowledge centre in Cherupuzha can lodge up to 20 people at a single time. There is an open stage for conducting programs. There is a small hall and a place for eating as well. Several people from the rest of the state and Karnataka have been visiting this place. The ‘worship centre’ which does not have a priest remains open on Sundays and other holidays.
An yearly festival is organised at the centre in the month of April. Narayanan’s close friend Sabu Maliyekal helps him in running the activities of the centre. An amount of Rs 40 lakh has been spent so far in developing the centre.
Narayanan who runs a parallel college in Cherupuzha has PG in five subjects. Shaila is his wife and he has two children named Nimna and Neeraj. He has written 26 books so far. Narayanan also functions as the state secretary of art and cultural organisation ‘Saparya’.
