Kannur: KSU state vice president P Muhammed Shammas has levelled serious allegations against former Kannnur District Panchayat president P P Divya. Shammas alleged that Divya, during her tenure as the panchayat president, directly awarded construction contracts worth ₹10.47 crore to the Kannur District Nirmithi Kendra.

The District Nirmithi Kendra, where the District Collector serves as chairman and Divya is a member of the governing body, received contracts for projects amounting to crores of rupees. Shammas alleged that the majority of these high-value contracts were awarded during the tenure of Collector Arun K Vijayan as the District Collector, raising suspicions of his involvement. Shammas demanded a comprehensive investigation to look into whether the Collector extended undue favours to Divya or supported her alleged benami transactions.

According to Shammas, the first project under Divya's alleged benami company Carton India Alliance Private Limited was the Padiyur ABC Centre, awarded via the District Nirmithi Kendra. He also alleged irregularities in a benami land transaction at Palakkayam Thattu, claiming that documents prepared for the deal by Divya’s benami company and her husband originated from the same advocate’s office. Furthermore, Shammas pointed out discrepancies in the documents, stating that Divya’s husband, a government employee, was described as a "farmer" in the land purchase records.

Shammas stated that evidence linking Divya’s family to the benami company would emerge in the coming days. He also announced plans to pursue legal action, including filing a complaint with the Vigilance Department. "If she has the courage, let her take legal action against me," Shammas challenged, speaking to the media in Kannur.
