Kannur ADM's suicide: Family claims Collector delayed Naveen Babu’s transfer, restricted leave

Pathanamthitta: Relatives of K. Naveen Babu, former Kannur ADM who died by suicide, have spoken out against Kannur District Collector Arun K Vijayan, revealing a troubled relationship between them. The investigation team from Kannur has reportedly recorded statements from Naveen's wife Manjusha, his children Nirupama and Niranjana, and his brother Praveen Babu.

Naveen Babu faced strict restrictions regarding leave, which contributed to delays in his transfer despite having received the order for the same. He had shared these concerns with family before his death.

After Naveen's death, Collector Arun Vijayan accompanied his body to Pathanamthitta but was reportedly not welcomed by the family. His attempts to enter the home and offer condolences to Naveen's wife and children were declined, with relatives expressing disinterest in his presence.

Meanwhile, PP Divya has refuted claims that she entered the farewell function for former ADM Naveen Babu uninvited. Divya stated that she was informed about the event by the Kannur Collector during another program and received an official invitation to attend. She pointed out that the District Collector had notified her about the farewell event on the morning it took place, raising questions about whether discussions regarding corruption had occurred with the Collector.

Naveen Babu was found dead a day after Divya raised corruption charges against him. The day before his death, a farewell event for him in Kannur took a surprising turn when Divya criticized his actions. During her speech, she made serious allegations about corruption against him during his farewell related to transfer.

Divya emphasised the importance of integrity and advised that he should avoid engaging in similar activities at his new position. This dramatic incident occurred in front of the Collector, who was also at the farewell meeting. Divya accused Naveen of trying to influence the approval process for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a petrol station. She claimed to have detailed information about this and stated she would disclose it if needed.
