New Delhi: The Indian Railways has introduced a new Vande Bharat train service, marking the longest journey in the country. This service runs 994 kilometres from Delhi to Patna and is expected to cut travel time considerably.

The new Vande Bharat train service has been launched in response to the rising number of passengers during the festive season, particularly around Diwali. With this train, travellers can cover the distance in just 11.5 hours. The service will reportedly operate eight trips during this festive period.

Ticket prices for this route are set at Rs 2,575 for an AC chair car and Rs 4,655 for an executive class seat. Currently, the train features seating coaches, but sleeper coaches are expected to be added soon.

Previously, the longest Vande Bharat service was between New Delhi and Varanasi, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2019. That journey covered 771 kilometres in eight hours.

The Vande Bharat trains are intended to replace older Shatabdi train services, providing faster and more efficient travel options. With the addition of sleeper coaches in the near future, the service aims to enhance comfort for long-distance travellers.
