Thiruvananthapuram: Kakkodi family health centre in Kozhikode district has become the first antibiotic smart hospital in the state, Health Minister Veena George said. The hospitals that fully comply with the guidelines to prevent overuse of antibiotics are declared to be antibiotic smart hospitals by the state government.

The Minister appreciated the efforts of Dr Divya and team as well as the district AMR of the Kakkodi family health centre. The aim is to make all the hospitals in the state antibiotic safe hospitals, the minister said. She further added that ‘antibiotic literacy’ and ‘antibiotic smart hospitals’ are concepts that are unique to Kerala.
