Malappuram: Sayyid Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal, president of Samastha Kerala Jem'iyyathul Ulema, on Monday, said that the resolution passed by its Malappuram district faction against Communism was without his consent.
A resolution passed at the golden jubilee celebrations of the Samastha's Malappuram district wing here on Sunday cautioned the Muslims in the state about attempts to instil atheism among them. It said aligning with Communists is dangerous. However, Jifri Thangal clarified that he had not vetted any such resolution. He also demanded to avoid using his photo in the news about the resolution.
Thangal, in the same conference, had said that the Samastha always cooperated with the incumbent state governments.
Following the clarification of Jifri Thangal, minister V Abdurahiman said that the IUML is trying to hijack the Samastha.
Earlier, Jifri Thangal and IUML had expressed different opinions regarding protests against the move to hand over Waqf Board recruitments to the PSC. While Thangal expressed satisfaction over the discussion with the Chief Minister, League decided to go ahead with public demonstrations. Incidentally, League recently decided on further protests in the matter. The Samastha and Muslim League have never had such a difference of opinion in recent times.
