Thiruvananthapuram: A distressing audio clip, suspected to be the final message of R L Nithin Raj, has surfaced following his tragic death. Nithin, a first-year BDS student at Kannur Dental College and a native of Thiruvananthapuram, died after falling from a college building. The recording emerged shortly after his family alleged that relentless harassment by faculty members drove him to take his own life.

Following a formal complaint by the family, the college authorities have suspended Dr K Ram, Head of the Oral Pathology Department, and Dr Sangeetha, pending an investigation. In the audio, Nithin describes how a teacher mocked his mother and issued violent threats.

"I walked out of the staff room, and he called me an idiot. I looked him in the face and said, 'Same to you.' You have no idea what they said to me in that room... they threatened to chop off my hands and feet once I stepped outside the gate. They said I’d have to live without limbs. I told him I’d like to see him try. Teachers like Dr Sangeetha just stood there watching. Dr Ajisha tried to calm me down. Many students called to congratulate me because that teacher has insulted so many people before.

I wasn't trying to be a hero. I was just sitting in class, paying attention. He made me stand up and mocked my mother and her recent surgery. Then he told me he had deducted three marks and sneered, 'Go give your parents a surprise.' I tolerated the insults to the extreme, but finally, I snapped. I told him that 99 out of 100 students may be his slaves," Nithin is heard saying emotionally in the clip.

Nithin Raj was the son of Y L Rajan, a painting labourer, and C R Latha. His parents have raised serious allegations of caste-based discrimination both inside and outside the campus. They stated that Nithin was also subjected to brutal ragging by senior students. Despite reporting these issues to department heads, no action was taken; instead, Nithin faced further neglect and humiliation.

The parents are now demanding a high-level probe and strict legal action against those responsible. Nithin was found lying on the ground between the Medical College Hospital reception and the library building at approximately 1.30 pm on Friday. Although he was rushed to the emergency department, he was declared dead on arrival.
