Kottayam: Following a fight with his wife, a youth, native of Edayazham, near Vaikom jumped out of a moving KSRTC bus and broke his leg. The incident took place on Monday at 4:30 p.m. near Nattakom. It has been learnt that the man has suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
Passengers inside the bus that was en route towards Ernakulam from Thiruvananthapuram said that an argument had been going on between the couple since the bus took off from Changanassery. When it reached the Mariyappally area in Nattakom, the man requested to get down, but the bus staff informed him that he could only get down at the KSRTC stand.
However, the man didn't pay any heed and jumped out of the window of the bus onto the road. The driver immediately stopped the bus. On the other hand, his wife dialled 108 and took him to the hospital in an ambulance.
The medical college authorities informed that his condition is stable, but he had fractured his left leg. Currently, he is under observation in the intensive care unit. Further treatment can only be determined after two more scans, said the authorities.
Gandhinagar police informed that primary information would be collected as the accident involved a vehicle. If there is a complaint, further investigation will be conducted; however, no one has lodged a complaint so far.
