Bengaluru: Two people were killed after a KSRTC bus travelling from Kozhikode to Bengaluru met with an accident near Bidadi in Karnataka. The deceased have been identified as the bus driver, Mithilesh and conductor, Arun.

Around 20 people were injured in the accident, which took place on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway. The bus reportedly lost control during rain and hit a large roadside signboard structure before overturning.

The impact caused the signboard structure to collapse, while the bus overturned to one side. The accident site is around 30 to 40 km from Bengaluru.

Four of the injured are reportedly in critical condition. The injured were taken to a hospital in Bidadi with the assistance of voluntary organisations. Those with serious injuries were later shifted to speciality hospitals for further treatment.

KSRTC officials from Wayanad and Bengaluru have left for the accident site after receiving information about the incident.

No other vehicles were reportedly close to the bus at the time of the accident, which helped prevent a larger tragedy.
