Thiruvananthapuram: In a serious development, CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam has strongly reacted to allegations that NCP MLA Thomas K. Thomas attempted to facilitate a bribery exchange involving LDF legislators. According to reports, Thomas allegedly promised substantial sums to influence the entry of LDF MLAs into the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Viswam described the situation as deeply humiliating, stating that "horse-trading" politics, where representatives are bought and sold for millions, has disgracefully found its way into Kerala. He emphasised that the CPI views this news with utmost seriousness and is calling for a thorough investigation into the bribery allegations to uncover the truth.

He also asserted that any individual found to be involved in bribery should not be allowed to remain part of the LDF, which he described as a coalition committed to democratic and ethical governance. “No MLA should be allowed to stand in the LDF if there are credible allegations against them,” he added.

The allegations centre around claims that Kuttanad MLA Thomas K. Thomas offered Rs 100 crore to bring two LDF MLAs to his party, the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction). The accusations extend to former minister and the sole MLA from the Democratic Kerala Congress, Antony Raju, and RSP(L) leader Kovoor Kunjumon.
