Kochi: Homoeopathy doctor P Nancy, who runs her own clinic behind Ernakulam MG Road Metro Station, completed the three-year LLB course at Ernakulam Government Law College with tenth rank while continuing her medical practice.
Some of the regular patients arriving at the homoeopathy clinic came in with a curious question, “Doctor, we heard you’ve passed the law exams. Is it true?”

“It’s true. I passed the LLB exams, securing the tenth rank,” replied Dr Nancy with a gentle smile. While people from many professions and age groups take up legal studies, it is not very common to see doctors pursuing law.
The doctor said she decided to study law after realising that some patients need legal guidance just as much as they need medical advice. Nancy is not someone who confines her work to the four walls of her clinic; she received government recognition for her exceptional service during the COVID pandemic.
Daughter of Dr P Krishnaraj from West Hill, Kozhikode, and Sreeja, a nurse who worked abroad, Nancy has always loved to learn. Her postgraduate degrees in Political Science and Human Rights also stem from that passion.
During her time at law college, the short films she made to raise legal awareness won recognition from the District Legal Services Authority and the City Police Commissioner.
Dr Nancy is also an accomplished badminton player. The 35-year-old now plans to enroll as an advocate next month.
