New Delhi: A notice has been issued to the actress who testified before the Hema Committee, directing her to appear in the Magistrate Court to provide a confidential statement. The notice requires her to appear before the Thiruvananthapuram First Class Judicial Magistrate Court on the 29th for recording her confidential statement.

The notice comes after the actress approached the Supreme Court, clarifying that she has no interest in proceeding with the case based on her testimony to the Hema Committee. A copy of the notice was handed over to the Supreme Court by the actress’s legal team.

Under Section 183 of the Indian Penal Code, the actress has been directed to appear before the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court for recording her statement. The notice issued by the court specifies that she must appear at 2:30 PM. The court's decision to send the notice follows a request by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is probing the testimonies given to the Hema Committee.

The actress's legal team submitted a copy of the notice to a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath on Monday. The legal representatives informed the court that they had previously notified the Special Investigation Team that they had no intention of proceeding with the complaint based on the testimony provided to the Hema Committee. However, the court has proceeded with the process of recording the actress’s confidential statement, despite this.

The Supreme Court had earlier indicated that it would pass an order today regarding petitions challenging the High Court’s directive to register a case and conduct an investigation based on the testimonies given to the Hema Committee. However, no order was issued on Monday. The state government had previously stated that it would close proceedings in cases where the complainants did not wish to proceed. The actress has suggested that the government’s position has shifted, based on the recent notice she received.
