In response to the Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala, the Tamil Nadu government has intensified monitoring on border districts. Fifteen teams, each comprising three members, have been established to conduct tests and monitor the health of individuals entering Tamil Nadu.
Tourists and those arriving from Kerala are being tested for the virus in the Nilgiris district. Health teams are also screening passengers for symptoms as part of the preventive measures. Similar stringent checks are in place at all seven checkpoints in Cuddalore for vehicles coming from Kerala.
Medical teams have been deployed to over ten checkposts, including Walayar, Gopalapuram, Nadupuni, and Meenakshipuram, to examine individuals for symptoms such as fever, headache, drowsiness, respiratory issues, and disorientation. People arriving by car, bus, and other vehicles are being stopped and checked. According to officials, anyone exhibiting fever or other symptoms will be sent back after their details are recorded and shared with counterparts in Kerala.
