Thiruvananthapuram: As very heavy rains are expected to lash the state, the meteorological department has sounded orange alerts in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Monday.
Yellow alerts have been issued in nine districts namely Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode.
On Tuesday, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are under orange alerts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in various places across the state until Thursday.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted the possibility of El Nino conditions in the Pacific Ocean and positive Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) conditions over the Indian Ocean from July to September.
