Thiruvananthapuram: Southern Kerala, especially along the coast, witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday.
Shutters of the Aruvikkara dam were raised as a result of the rain.
11 districts in the state, from Kozhikode to Thiruvananthapuram, are under yellow alert with predictions of isolated heavy rain. Heavy rain is classified as rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
Punalur witnessed rainfall of 62 mm in an hour while Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram recorded 43 mm.
In a rare event, two cyclonic storms are being formed in the Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal- Tej and Hamoon. However, they are not affecting the rainfall in Kerala.
