Kochi: The Kerala High Court has stepped in directly to prevent irregularities and corruption in 1,450 temples, including Sabarimala. The court directed that fund accounts of the Travancore Devaswom Board be digitised.

The Kerala Information Technology Infrastructure Limited (KITFRA) has been entrusted with the digitisation process. The court has asked that it should be informed of the time required to complete the work. The court also stressed that corruption and irregularities in temples must be completely eliminated.

The court had summoned senior officials heading state-run institutions namely KITFRA and K-Smart. The High Court’s Devaswom Bench sought explanations from the officials on how digitisation could be implemented to prevent irregularities in temples.

The court intends to ensure that all accounts of Sabarimala are fully digitised before the next Mandala–Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. KITFRA officials have been directed to inform the court next week about the completion of the digitisation process and the proposed timeline.
